Man Collects $763,000 He Thought Was a Scam

(March 31, 2017, NY Times) Imagine finding more than $700,000 under your couch cushions. That, essentially, is what happened to a man in South Carolina, who received a phone call from the state treasure Curtis Loftis, informing him that he was entitled to more than $763,000 in unclaimed cash. 

Pennsylvania has $3 billion in unclaimed cash, treasure

(March 7, 2017, ABC 27) Deep underground in Harrisburg sits the Pennsylvania Treasury vault. Built in 1939, it's housing a stash of cash that could belong to you. 

State's unclaimed fund has money not just for individuals

(February 27, 2017, WBTW) The state of South Carolina is holding about $550 million of unclaimed money that belongs to people across the state. Those millions of dollars are unclaimed because it has not made it to the rightful owner. It is not just people who are owed money, but also local governments, community organizations and even charities.
